All of our rooms have been fully refurbished and as standard include:

Rates

Our rooms start at £90 for a single, £120 for a king and £140 for a family. Breakfast is available , which is either continental, in your room, or downstairs in the Brew House. Our breakfast is normally £9.95 per person, however if you book directly, it is included with your room rate.

Why Eccleshall?

Eccleshall is a thriving rural market town in Staffordshire with a rich history. There's lots to see and do here. There are 12 cafe's, restaurants and bars in less than a 1/4 square mile, with The Little George being situated at the centre of Eccleshall, on the main crossroads.

Although we're rural, transport links are good. We're about 5 miles off J14 of the M6, and 6 miles from the canal-town of Stone so you're far enough away to escape the noise, hustle and bustle, but close enough to get where you need to.

There's lots going on in Eccleshall and the surrounding areas - plenty of activities that you might want to sink your teeth in to. Whether that be a cookery class, live music, seeing the birds of prey, indulging in retail therapy or completing our local food and drink trail (to name but a few). You can find out more about what you can see and do, below.

Cookery School

Perry's Field to Fork is an Artisan butchery and cooking school, situated in Eccleshall. The School is based in the grounds of the national award-winning Perrys of Eccleshall, Master Butcher and Game Dealer. They offer a range of courses from traditional bread-making, cake baking, world cuisine and artisan butchery and knife skills. Booking is an absolute must and vouchers can be bought as gifts by visiting their website.

Food and Drink Trail

Developed by What's on in Eccleshall, the Food and Drink Trail allows you to explore Eccleshall your way! If you're looking to get your steps in, then the Longest Drink Trail is for you involving 8 of Eccleshall's wonderful watering-holes. Alternatively, you can mix in a 3 course, progressive-supper by following the Food and Drink trail - though you won't be putting as many steps in!

Walking Trails

If you love to explore then there are numerous walks available across Eccleshall Parish, that will allow you to see an experience the beautiful countryside that we have to offer. Walks start from 4 miles.

Grove Estate is an award winning, family run vineyard, owned by Rob and Liz Grove with three generations actively involved in the business and operations.

As well as being able to purchase locally-produced wines from Eccleshall, you can also enjoy private wine tours where you can learn more about the wines on offer and try before you buy.

Fletchers Garden Centre

A family-run garden centre with quite literally something for everyone and fun for all the family. As well as plants, pots and garden buildings, you can also delight in an excellent choice of seasonal gifts, cards, books and produce.

If you're visiting at Christmas time, you must make a trip to see the epic-Christmas display in store, which just gets better each year and where Santa makes routine guest appearances!

Once you've explored all there is to see inside, head on out to enjoy a round of crazy golf or have a go on the captained, mini-steam train - an experience not to be missed. There's also a farmhouse cafe on site for when you need a rest.

Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre

Situated adjacent to Fletchers Family Garden Centre, Gentleshaw is a small sanctuary for exotic animals and birds of prey. The centre is home to over 30 different species of Bird of prey, Primate, Reptile, Invertebrate, Raccoons, Cats and many more.

Your entrance fee (£5 per adult or £4 per child/concession/carer/OAP) helps support this registered charity to rescue and rehome many animals in need, as well as provide hospital services to others. Children will enjoy the activity pack which they can complete as you wander around.

Eccleshall Church

Holy Trinity Church in Eccleshall is a Grade I listed Anglican church, dating mostly from the 13th century. It was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 that St Chad held the estate of Eccleshall, prior to the Norman Conquest. Holy Trinity Church is a sunning piece of historic architecture which opens its doors to visitors and worshippers daily and is a focal part of the Eccleshall community and landscape.

Distance from The Little George: 0.3 miles by foot. Walkable with excellent footpaths and the chance to take in the High Street.

ERUFC

Eccleshall Rugby Club welcomes visitors and players of all ages and abilities. If rugby is your game, then you want to see our teams in action. The full fixtures list is published on their website and you can be sure of seeing thrilling games, followed up by excellent hospitality from the club as you all take a chance to warm up, and wind down in Baden Hall club-house.

The club also runs a range of other events including ticketed, annual curry nights and summer balls to which all are welcome.

Heronbrook Fishery

Heronbrook Fisheries is situated just off the A519 at Slindon, two miles from Eccleshall. Set in 25 acres of the beautiful Staffordshire countryside there are now SIX amazing pools to try. The first and most established is the Match lake opened in 1994, followed shortly after by the Match Pool. Canal was designed and built in 1996 mainly to suite the pole angler. In 2003 Bridge Pool was added along with Island Pool. Canal was extended.

Heronbrook is a club anglers favourite with match fishing taking place regularly throughout April-October. Details of all upcoming events can be found here, along with contact information to book your place.

Johnson Hall Garden Centre and Greenhouse Emporium

The Victorian walled nursery at Johnson Hall is a family run garden centre located on the outskirts of Eccleshall. A true day out for any gardening enthusiast, whilst there be sure to have a look and a rummage in the Greenhouse Emporium, where you can find a variety of antiques and decorative items for your home and garden. They've also recently opened 'Coffee and Cake' so you can stop off for a barista coffee and treat yourself to a slice of cake.

Alpaca Trekking

Alpaca's are curious creatures that love being walked! Knightley Alpaca tRekking offers three different experiences including shorter routes for little legs, all of which take in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. After you finish your walk, you'll be able to feed your new furry friends - after all, they'll have worked up an appetite!

RGC Clay Shooting

Established in 1974, RGC Shooting and have been teaching shooting moving targets to all sorts of people of all ages.

They offer a full range of services, ranging from teaching young people of around 14 years old the safety aspects of shooting to solving experienced shooter's problems, and everything in between.

Norbury Wharf

Situated on the Shropshire Union canal, not far from Eccleshall, Norbury Wharf offers a range of services that give you a good chance to explore some of the local canal network. There are some excellent walks along the canal where you can take in the local scenery and wildlife, as well as a canalside tea rooms and gift shop where you can relax by the water and watch the world go by.

If you fancy trying your hand at boating, you can also hire a day boat from them (booking required, especially during summer) which gives a chance to experience the relaxation that comes with boating-life. In the summer months they also run their annual canal festival where you can see and sample the wares of numerous boat-traders, before enjoying a tipple and some live music at the Junction Inn pub.

Local History Trail

Steeped in a rich history, Eccleshall dates back as far as the Domesday Book and the Norman Conquest. Our historic walking trail traverses the North and South sides of the High Street, enabling you to learn all about the history of Eccleshall as told by the buildings themselves, many of which are listed.

Copies of the trail booklets can be accessed here, or you can get hold of a physical copy at the library (half way down the High Street).
